Therapy for Teenagers

(Ages 12+)
Being a human being is the hardest thing you’ll ever do, and the most amazing. For teenagers in our modern world, it can be exhausting and overwhelming.

Between school, social media, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out who you are, it can feel like the ground is constantly shifting. Maybe your teen has been more withdrawn, more irritable, or just... different lately. Maybe they've told you they're struggling, or maybe they haven't said a word, but you can feel it.

You're not overreacting. And reaching out doesn't mean something is "wrong" with your child; it means you're paying attention.

What teens often tell us:
  • "I just want someone who actually listens without judging me or trying to fix me right away."

  • “I don’t know how to talk to my parents about my feelings. I feel alone.”

  • "I feel like I have to be a totally different person depending on who I'm with."

  • "I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling. I just know it's not good."

  • "Everyone else seems fine, and I'm just...not."

What therapy can look like for your teen:

We create a space where adolescents feel genuinely heard, not lectured, not automatically diagnosed, just understood.

Our work with teens focuses on:

  • Building a clearer sense of personal identity, cultural identity, and values

  • Learning to name and navigate emotions rather than being overwhelmed by them

  • Developing confidence and self-expression in a world full of unfair comparisons

  • Strengthening communication with family and peers

  • Processing the effects of social media pressure, isolation, and academic stress

  • A LOT of LAUGHING.

*A note for parents and caregivers: You are typically the one searching, scheduling, and paying, and your involvement matters. Your teen's buy-in is essential for therapy to work, and in Colorado, they can consent to their own therapy starting at age 12, provided certain criteria are met. We'll partner with you to make sure your child feels safe, respected, and genuinely engaged in the process. School counselors and PCPs are also welcome to collaborate in supporting your teen's care.
